31 August, 2024- Drone Startups are Rising Fast in India, Expanding in Number Over 3 Years, More than in the UK or China.
Top drone startups in India have seen a 279% increase in average expenditure. Yet, the country continues to lag behind others when it comes to total funding.
India has emerged as one of the top destinations for drone startups. It generates more new ventures than the United Kingdom and China combined. This relies on a control analysis.
The increase in drone startups began in 2021. That year, the government introduced new drone rules. They relaxed registration requirements and removed the need for licenses in some categories.
As of August 2024, Tracxn data shows that India has 398 drone startups. This is more than double the 157 startups that were active three years ago. The increase occurred after the new rules. As of August, China had 298 drone startups. This figure is up from 204 three years ago. The UK’s drone ecology has also expanded. It currently has 298 startups, up from 192 in August 2021. The United States leads by a wide margin, with as many startups as the next six countries combined. In the past three years, the number of drone companies in the U.S. has grown by 59 percent. It increased from 858 in 2021 to 1,066.
