6 September, 2024- DJI, the titan of the drone world, has unveiled a new marvel that’s as small as it is impressive: the DJI Neo. Launched in September 2024, this compact drone is a game-changer for personal videography. It’s designed for both casual creators and dedicated content makers. Plus, its low weight is a big advantage.
Its clever use of AI technology sets the Neo apart. Designed to capture dynamic shots with ease. It ensures that you are always the focus of the shot with its follow-shot feature. Its built-in “QuickShots” offer creative filming options like “Rocket” and “Spotlight.” It also tracks your face for “walk and talk” vlogs.
The Neo’s versatility extends to both indoor and outdoor use. Its low weight and included propeller guards make this possible. It has 22GB of internal storage that you can’t expand. This is enough to record up to 40 minutes of 4K/30fps video or 55 minutes of 1080p/60fps. Transferring footage to your phone is a breeze with the included app. The app packs in surprising features.
Flight time varies. DJI advertises up to 18 minutes of flight time. Yet assessments such as Engadget’s imply a closer estimate of 13–14 minutes. The Neo can reach speeds of over 20 mph and withstand winds of up to 18 mph. It also boasts a nifty palm takeoff and landing feature, allowing you to start and stop it from your hand. Additionally, it can soar up to 2000 meters in the air.
Control it with physical controllers, FPV goggles, or your smartphone. For better audio, you can integrate it with the DJI Mic. The Neo is quieter than drones like the Mavic or Avata. Some testers found its high-pitched noise annoying, likening it to a swarm of bees.
