latest drone news

22 August, 2024 – Altitude Angel, a premier UK provider of Unified Traffic Management (UTM) technology, has unveiled that Cambridge City Airport has strategically adopted their cutting-edge Approval Services platform.

Cambridge City Airport, which primarily serves business jets and general aviation, is located near the historic city center and business hub of Cambridge, just outside Greater London. With its Flight Restricted Zone (FRZ) encompassing nearly the entire city, the airport has seen a rising demand for drone operations. Altitude Angel’s platform simplifies this process, allowing users to submit flight plans digitally through the Drone Assist app or via the Drone Safety Map website. This advancement reduces the approval time from approximately 21 days to just 5 while also cutting down on administrative costs.

David Rowe, Airport Operations Manager at Cambridge City Airport, conveyed a strong sense of anticipation regarding the system’s rollout. He commented, “Our Airport Operations Team is eager about the deployment of this system, which will boost our efficiency in managing applications and offer a thorough view of UAV activities within our No-Fly Zone (NFZ).”

Chris Forster, Chief Operating Officer at Altitude Angel, added, “As a busy commercial airport and one overseeing the airspace of one of the UK’s most famous cities, we’re thrilled to support more drone operations within the Cambridge FRZ, ensuring safe and secure access to the skies for all users.”

This announcement follows Altitude Angel’s recent expansion of their sensor network, enhancing the monitoring of drone airspace across the UK.
