The creation of a novel 300-acre Drone City in the Kurnool district’s Orvakal is at the center of this project. It’s an unprecedented undertaking. It establishes Andhra Pradesh as a pioneer in the growing drone sector in India.Creating the Conditions for Innovation

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu wants Andhra Pradesh to become a leading drone technology destination. He has given authorities a clear directive. They need to provide a supportive environment for creativity. This ecosystem should attract more than 100 drone companies to the area.

The policy offers a generous 20% subsidy on investments to entice these enterprises. It includes an impressive allocation of ₹500 crore to facilitate its ambitious rollout.

Furthermore, investors can benefit from substantial reductions in land conversion fees. They will also enjoy favorable land lease rates over a three-year period.

Elevating Education And Training

The policy equally emphasizes the importance of workforce development. The Andhra Pradesh government plans to establish 20 drone pilot training centers across the state. These centers aim to certify 25,000 drone pilots. To bolster engagement, trainees will receive a ₹2,000 incentive. In partnership with the A.P. Skill Development Corporation, the government will also set up 50 centers of excellence in drone technology. Engineering colleges, polytechnics, and ITIs will host these centers. They will directly create jobs for 15,000 individuals. Additionally, they will indirectly benefit an extra 25,000 people.

The foundation of sustainable growth is innovation, as acknowledged by the policy. It provides significant funding to academic institutes involved in drone research. Funding for each creative research project is up to ₹20 lakh.

The government commits to fostering an environment ripe for innovation. This commitment demonstrates the establishment of a “sandbox”. The sandbox is a comprehensive data repository. It empowers stakeholders to develop cutting-edge drone applications.

Transforming Public Services

Drone technology’s incorporation into public services is among this policy’s most notable features. This integration aims to improve the efficiency of service delivery and governance. Each department will assign a drone innovation officer. This officer will investigate and use applications for drones. The efficient implementation of government programs and real-time governance will be their main areas of emphasis. This initiative fits in with the “Drone Didi” plan. The strategy encourages the use of drones for various governmental programs.

The policy introduces a specialized web portal to expedite procedures for investors. This gateway functions as a one-window system. It makes it easier to obtain all required state-level certificates and approvals. Additionally, it offers national and worldwide market data. This district-level site will streamline Proof of Concept (PoC) submissions. It will promote chances for cooperation and offer pertinent industry information. Businesses are successfully guided through the regulatory environment by this strategy.

Aiming For Global Impact

A strong goal underpins the Andhra Pradesh Drone Policy 4.0. It seeks to increase drone exports by 20% a year. The policy’s goal is to make ₹3,000 crore from the production and sale of drones. This includes an ambitious export target of ₹1,000 crore. This strategic vision positions Andhra Pradesh to become a major force in the global drone market. It seeks to reshape the regional economy. It also aims to transform India’s drone technology market as a whole.
