Adani Defence Delivers Second Drishti-10 Drone To Boost Navy’s Maritime Surveillance
06 December, 2024- Adani Defence and Aerospace has delivered the second Drishti-10 Starliner surveillance drone to the Indian Navy. This enhances India’s ability to monitor maritime routes and tackle piracy. Adani Defence delivered the first Drishti-10 earlier this year. The second UAV is a version of Israel’s Hermes 900, a medium-altitude, long-endurance UAV. Sources say the Navy has integrated it into operations at Porbandar, Gujarat.
Key Features Of The Drishti-10 Drone
Adani Defence manufactures the Drishti-10 Starliner at its Hyderabad facility. The Drishti-10 drone serves intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. It offers impressive capabilities, including a 36-hour endurance and a 450 kg payload capacity. The Drishti-10 is the only all-weather military UAV to receive NATO’s STANAG 4671 certification for airworthiness. This certification allows it to operate in both segregated and unsegregated airspace.
The Drishti-10 equips itself for persistent, over-the-horizon operations. It features multi-payload capabilities and satellite communication (Satcom)-based control, providing unmatched autonomy in the field.
Enhancing India’s Maritime Security: Drone
The Drishti-10 Starliner greatly boosts the Indian Navy’s ability to monitor vast maritime areas. It provides critical situational awareness and acts as a force multiplier. This UAV represents the first integration of advanced payloads onto a Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) UAV platform. It enables the Navy to gain superior capabilities in maritime surveillance. The MALE UAVs operate at altitudes between 10,000 and 30,000 feet. They offer extended flight endurance of 24 to 48 hours. This makes them ideal for surveillance and reconnaissance operations.
The Indian Navy received the first Drishti-10 Starliner in January this year. The Army received the second one in June. The Indian Army has ordered two of these drones. It will deploy the first unit at its Bhatinda base in Punjab. The drone will monitor the western border with Pakistan.
The Drishti-10 has completed successful flight operations in Porbandar and Bhatinda. It marks significant milestones in India’s defense capabilities. It highlights a new era of indigenous unmanned systems for the Indian Armed Forces.
