Skye Air Mobility Works In Tandem With CARiTAS Hospital To Provide Medical Supplies

30 August, 2024- Skye Air Mobility collaborated with CARiTAS Hospital. They are also collaborating with the Institute of Health Science. The initiative originates in Kerala’s Kottayam district. Their new collaboration results in the Caritas Drone Medical Supply Delivery Unit. It’s the first of its sort in South Kerala. This effort seeks to improve healthcare accessibility and efficiency in the region.

This project uses drones for transportation. They can hold up to three kilograms of medical supplies and diagnostic samples. The drones have a range of 10–15 kilometers. They will connect CARiTAS Hospital’s satellite facilities and rural places. This technology aims to reduce delivery time from hours down to about 5-7 minutes. It will also help reduce carbon emissions by reducing reliance on vehicle transportation.

CARiTAS Hospital has been a healthcare leader in Kerala for over 60 years. The hospital has five satellite centers with modern facilities. Incorporating drone technology is a recent breakthrough. It is part of their continual commitment to improving patient care.

Local dignitaries and healthcare professionals attended the first drone flight. It brought essential drugs from the CARiTAS Hospital. Caritas Family Hospital and CARiTAS KMM were among the satellite facilities. These locations received the delivery. These centers are about 10–15 kilometers apart. This mission demonstrates drones’ potential. They have the potential to completely transform local healthcare logistics.

Rev. Dr. Binu Kunnath is the Director of CARiTAS Hospital. He acknowledged his delight for the initiative. “Drones will transform healthcare in Kottayam. They will allow for faster delivery of medicines and medical supplies. Drones will also give more reliable service in remote places.”

Shri Mons Joseph, MLA, was the chief guest during the launch. He praised the program. “This drone project demonstrates our commitment to use technology. It benefits the public welfare.
