Indian Army Acquires Indigenous Suicide Drones With Reusable Technology
June 14 2024 – The Indian Army has taken a significant step forward by introducing its first indigenous suicide drones, called Nagastra-1. These drones, developed by Economic Explosives Limited (EEL), are equipped with state-of-the-art GPS technology allowing for precise strikes with an accuracy of up to 2 meters.
One of the key features of Nagastra-1 is its parachute recovery system, which enables the drone to be reused in case a mission is aborted. This development marks a notable advancement in the army’s capabilities, especially for shallow strike operations.
Nagastra-1 is designed to operate efficiently under extreme weather conditions and at high altitudes, making it versatile for various combat scenarios. The drones can effectively target and neutralize enemy threats, providing a significant tactical advantage. This reusable technology not only enhances operational efficiency but also reduces costs, making it a valuable asset for the Indian Army.
The introduction of these indigenous drones aligns with India’s broader strategy to boost self-reliance in defense technology and reduce dependency on foreign military imports. The successful deployment of Nagastra-1 highlights the progress being made in indigenous defense manufacturing and innovation.
